Jira and Atlassian Migration Consultant

With Atlassian Data Center approaching end of life, federal agencies face a forced migration window. Ovoco is building a team of migration specialists.

You would plan and execute migrations from Jira Data Center and Confluence Data Center to Jira Cloud, GitLab, ServiceNow, or other target platforms using Ovoco's purpose-built migration tooling.

The Work

  • Assess client Atlassian environments including Jira projects, workflows, custom fields, automations, and plugins to develop migration plans
  • Execute migrations from Atlassian Data Center to target platforms using Ovoco's migration tooling and standard methods
  • Map and transform project structures, issue types, workflows, permissions, and custom fields between platforms
  • Develop and execute data validation procedures to verify migration completeness and accuracy
  • Identify and resolve plugin dependencies, custom script migrations, and integration breakages
  • Create runbooks, migration checklists, and rollback procedures
  • Train client teams on the target platform after migration

What We Are Looking For

  • 3 or more years administering Jira (Data Center or Cloud)
  • Direct experience migrating Jira or Confluence between environments
  • Familiarity with Jira REST APIs, JQL, and bulk data operations
  • Experience with at least one target migration platform (Jira Cloud, GitLab, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps)
  • U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Atlassian certifications (ACP-JPA, ACP-CA)
  • Experience with GitLab administration and CI/CD pipeline configuration
  • Scripting skills in Python, Groovy, or JavaScript for migration automation
  • Experience supporting federal agencies with Atlassian environments

Public Trust or higher preferred. Active Secret or Top Secret is a strong plus for DoD work.

How It Works

You work as a 1099 independent consultant. You set your own rate and choose engagements that fit your availability. Ovoco handles the client relationships, contracts, scoping, and business development. You deliver the work.

Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience. Rates are negotiated per engagement based on scope, duration, and clearance requirements.
